Presentation 1: Introduction

Our first presentation begins with an ice breaker activity to allow the students and volunteers to engage with each other. We then explain the mission and vision of this program, followed by the administration of a small interest exam to help students determine their major.

Presentation 2: AP, ACT and SAT I & II

Reviewing the interest exam is essential to helping students amp the rigor of their courseload. According to each student's results we will suggest that they take certain Advanced Placement and Dual Enrollment courses. This will serve as a transition to testing, specifically the SAT/ACT, where our volunteers will explain 1)How to register for an exam 2)How to study for it

Presentation 3:

Scholar Programs & Essays

There are several well established programs that students can apply for during their junior/senior years that aid with college admission. Questbridge and Posse are among the programs we will discuss. Volunteers will also demonstrate and teach the students how to navigate through common app website. Students will be assigned a mini essay.

Presentation 4: Summer Programs, Fly-ins and Financial Aid

In the summer preceding Junior Year universities worldwide host pre-collegiate programs that you can attend to live the college life for a few weeks while taking a class. What many students don't know is that financial aid is offered for them to attend these programs. Select volunteers while share their experiences at these programs and Fly-ins.

Mid-Year Mentoring

All volunteers and students are encouraged to stay in contact with each other. Our goal is to develop a relationship where the students feel comfortable approaching them and messaging them any questions that arise concerning school and admissions.

End of Year Follow-Up

Before our senior volunteers graduate and head off on their own college pathways, we will meet again with our students to see their progress since the last presentation.
